A 16-year-old from Buffalo was arraigned on a charge of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a September shooting that injured an 18-year-old woman.
Jarrmel Peterson, who initially was charged with assault when he was arrested Sept. 27, pleaded not guilty to the higher indictment charge in State Supreme Court. He is accused of shooting the victim, who is from Cheektowaga, at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 18. The young woman, who was struck more than once, was treated at Erie County Medical Center.
Peterson remains in custody with bond set at $100,000. Justice M. William Boller him to return to court on Jan. 26.
