Letter: Veterans do not divide comrades by skin color

Veterans do not divide comrades by skin color

I find it strange that some people want to build a monument for “black veterans, only.” As far as I know, there is no monument based on skin color anywhere in the world. To me, it looks like segregation, pure and simple.

If building a monument to black veterans is the objective, why not be foolish and build a monument for American Indian veterans, and another monument for Asian veterans? And, just in case we forget, we need another monument for white veterans.

Those of us who served our country in combat served together as a team. Skin color or national origin was not a factor; we all watched each other’s backs. Veterans do not consider skin color.
