A Brayton Street man was released Friday night after treatment in Erie County Medical Center for swallowing drugs as police were trying to arrest him during a traffic stop.
Anthony H. Vo, 22, had what police called "a white rocky substance" on his lap when he was pulled over shortly before 8 p.m. at Herkimer Street and Lafayette Avenue for failing to signal a turn. He was seen swallowing a white substance, and tests at ECMC showed he had opiates and cocaine in his system.
However, Northwest District police said Vo told them he swallowed a painkiller and a male enhancement pill.
He was charged with obstructing governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlicensed driving.
