Buffalo pastor spends five days on streets to raise awareness about homelessness

For the 19th year in a row, Rev. Eric Johns, pastor of The Buffalo Dream Center, spent five days over the Thanksgiving holiday living on the streets.

He ended this year's mission Saturday morning at his church at 286 Lafayette Ave. His goal is to raise awareness about poverty and homelessness as well as to publicize his Boxes of Love Christmas campaign which gives out food and presents to more than 3,000 families during the holidays.

“It was a great week,” Johns said in a statement. “I am looking forward to working alongside all of the volunteers who will come during December to wrap gifts and pack food. Thousands of families will be helped.”
