It is time to bring back low-tech voting machines
I appreciate The News’ Nov. 7 election day article on the low-tech, reliable, trustworthy, fraud-proof Automatic Voting Machine (AVM) lever voting machines. Oh, how I miss them.
I despise the “photocopier” voting system the federal government forced on us under what I call the “Keep America from Voting Act.”
There’s no secret ballot, you fill out your paper in the open, behind what amounts to a cut-down cardboard box, where anyone can see what you’re marking.
The ballots are extremely difficult for those of us with less than perfect vision to make out. The “bubble” you fill in is very hard to find.
I yearn for the days, when voting wasn’t a frustrating ordeal.
