The Buffalo school district is seeking a person or organization to run BUILD Academy next year and turn around the struggling East Side school on Fougeron Street.
The district, facing a January deadline to appoint someone, put out this week a formal request for applications. Replies are due to Superintendent Kriner Cash by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Applicants must be a state certified school administrator who has a record of working with at-risk student populations and improving academic performance in low-performing schools. For more information check out the district web site at buffaloschools.org.
The state — which ordered the takeover of BUILD after years of poor academic performance — recently told the school district that no potential candidates have come forward to serve as the school's "independent receiver."
