Fire in attached garage displaces residents, damages vehicle

A vehicle was severely damaged and the house sustained smoke damage when a fire broke out Wednesday night in the attached garage of a home at 436 Lake Shore Drive East, the Dunkirk Fire Department reported.

Two residents were displaced by the fire, which was reported at 11:44 p.m.  Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire and spent about two hours battling the blaze, which was confined to the garage, according to Capt. Gary Katta. The East Dunkirk Fire Department assisted.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation team, Katta said.
