Local breweries offer Thanksgiving Eve specials

The night before Thanksgiving, is also known as the biggest bar drinking night of the year. Local breweries this year offer myriad options, listed below.

Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St.) will host its Stoutsgiving starting at 11 a.m. with eight stouts on tap including Bourbon Barrel-Aged Towpath Imperial Stout (10.6 percent ABV, aged in Woodford Reserve Barrels for eight months). A 22-ounce bottles will be sold for $14, and pours will be at the bar. Also available will be a special raspberry version, a non barrel-aged version, and a small number of bottles from 2016 (limited availability for pours at the bar only). Other stouts include Chocolate Milk Stout with two special cask variants (coconut and one with vanilla, cinnamon and chipotle peppers) and Make Me Wanna Stout (coffee and cream stout featuring Revolution coffee from Public Espresso + Coffee). 12 Gates Brewing Company (80 Earhart Drive) will hold its second annual Philosofest starting at 4 p.m. The brewery is releasing its Pumpkin Amber (4.8 percent ABV pub amber ale infused with pumpkin pie spices). Music is by Joe Webber (4 to 7 p.m.) and Mike and Mandy Music (8 to 11 p.m.). Call 906-6600.

Community Beer Works (15 Lafayette Ave.) will release its annual barleywine ale, Heatrays. The beer is brewed during the heat of summer and aged in kegs until the day before Thanksgiving. This year’s batch of the 10 percent ABV beer will be available, as well as a vertical of the past four years of Heatrays (flights of all five for $15), and Batch 1000, a barleywine ale brewed in 2015 to celebrate the brewer’s 1000th batch of beer. Flying Bison Brewing Company (840 Seneca St.) will hold its Thanksgiving Eve Bash from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature live classic rock and roll by Kickstart Rumble, drink specials and snacks. All ages are welcome; you must be 21 and older to drink beer. Call 873-1557.

Rusty Nickel Brewing Company (4350 Seneca St., West Seneca) has a special from 5 to 7 p.m. Stop in for a 64-ounce growler fill, and receive one free pint (excluding imperial beers) while your growler is filled. Call 608-6155.
