West Side pedestrian dodges driver but loses fingertip in the process

A Buffalo man had one of his fingertips ripped off Sunday night after a driver tried to hit him and then drove off with the pedestrian hanging onto the vehicle's hood, according to a police report.

The 28-year-old told police the driver tried hitting him on Fargo Avenue between Vermont and Connecticut streets shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the report.

The victim said he had to jump on the car to avoid being hit. In addition to losing the fingertip, he also suffered a knee injury and was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
