DORR, James J.

DORR - James J. Of Bemus Point, formerly of Getzville passed away on November 14, 2017.
He was born in Buffalo and attended Lockport High School class of 1948. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. A very active member of the Bemus Point VFW post 557. Jim was the owner of a taxidermy shop in Buffalo until 1960, then was employed at the Buffalo Museum of Science as their taxidermist. He retired in 1990. He mounted hundreds of birds and animals including a gorilla, bear, giraffe and even Buffalo's well known Eddie the Chimp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Truly a man that could "live off the land." Chautauqua Lake continued to call him and he and his wife Lucille moved there in 1996. Jim had many interests. He enjoying gardening, oil painting and cooking an occasional fish fry. The love of his life was his wife Lucille B. Dorr (Bald) of 56 years. Also his love of his many dogs over the years. He is survived by his brother Richard J. (Ruth) Dorr of East Amherst and predeceased by his brothers William H. (Wanda) and Robert L. (Donna). Also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and their families.
A service will be held at the Mayville United Methodist Church, 81 S. Erie St. on Saturday, December 2, at 11:00. Arrangements are by the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville.
