Canoeists rescued from Cazenovia Creek after canoe flips

Two people canoeing in Cazenovia Creek in South Buffalo were reportedly rescued Sunday afternoon after the canoe overturned.

Buffalo police and Buffalo firefighters were called to the scene near Southside Parkway, according to @ErieCoBlotter.

Buffalo fire dispatchers received a report of a person in the water at 2:38 p.m. Air temperatures were in the high 30s at the time and according to the U.S. Geological Service water levels had spiked from runoff of the recent rains.

A bridge on Southside Parkway runs over the creek between South and North Legion drives about 500 yards upstream from where the creek flows into the Buffalo River.
