What to watch for Saturday

1. Football - NYSPHSAA Class AA, B & C semifinals at Union-Endicott High School

Winners advance to next weekend's state finals at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome.

Class C: Cleveland Hill vs. Skaneateles, 11 a.m.

The Eagles, who are the top-ranked team in the state, look for their first berth to the state final. Cleve Hill lost in 2013 to Chenango Forks. This is the first time Skaneateles is in the state semis.

Class B: Cheektowaga vs. Chenango Forks, 3 p.m.

The Warriors, No. 3 in the state, take on second-ranked Chenango Forks. Cheektowaga lost its previous two times in the state semis in 2014 and 2015. This is the sixth straight final four appearance for state power Chenango Forks. It won Class C state titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and lost in the Class B championship game last season.

Class AA: Lancaster vs. Cicero-North-Syracuse, 7 p.m.

Lancaster and Cicero-North both make their first appearances in the state semifinals. The Legends average 42.6 points per game, but the Northstars score 52.9 points per game. This one will come down to whose defense can force a few key stops.

2. Football - Monsignor Martin championship at New Era Field

Canisius is going for its second straight Monsignor Martin championship and fifth in six years against St. Joe's at 2 p.m. The Maruaders are back in the final for the first time since 2013. They haven't won since 2010.

3. Girls volleyball - NYSPHSAA Championships at Glens Falls Civic Center

Williamsville East (Class A), Portville (Class C) and defending-champ Panama (Class D) participate in pool play Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. The two teams with the best records from each class advance to Sunday's finals.

State title quests continue for Section VI volleyball teams

4. Boys volleyball - NYSPHSAA Championships on Long Island

Eden plays against Burnt Hills and Bellmore JFK at Suffolk County Community College this afternoon, with the top two teams advancing to the championship at 3 p.m.

5. Girls swimming - NYSPHSAA Championships at Ithaca College

The second day of the state championships continues with swimming finals and consolations at 10:30 a.m.

6. Cross country - New York State Federation Championships at Bowdoin Park

Some of the top runners from Section VI and the Monsignor Martin Association compete in the state federation championships in Wappingers Falls (near Poughkeepsie). Girls race starts at 12:15 p.m., while the boys follow at 1 p.m.
