A prime parking space at Lackawanna City Hall will be dedicated for use by Purple Heart veterans starting Friday, said Mayor Geoffrey Szymanski.

The parking space was unveiled Friday morning during ceremonies at City Hall, 714 Ridge Road.

Purple Heart recipient Robert Scahill was honored at the ceremony with a New York State certificate of recognition from Assemblyman Mickey Kearns.

Retiring Lackawanna employee Paul Strycharz, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served the city as court officer, police officer and director of public safety, was also honored at the ceremony.
