Niagara Gorge stairway in Devil's Hole State Park to reopen Saturday

A stairway into the Niagara Gorge in Devil's Hole State Park in Niagara Falls that had been closed for repairs will reopen Saturday, state parks officials said.

The stairs were closed all summer and weren't expected to reopen until the spring, according to the state.

The project included removal and reconstruction of a middle portion of the stairs, as well as parts of a trail in the park. The state paid contractor Scott Lawn Yard of Sanborn $645,500 for the work, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said.
