A new 80-unit apartment complex for independent senior living on Harlem Road has received the unanimous approval of Cheektowaga lawmakers.
The proposal for the redevelopment of the long vacant Manor Oak skilled nursing facility at 3600 Harlem was submitted by Sandra Mancuso, an architectural project manager with E&I Development.
The plan is to convert the existing 35,600-square-foot, two-story nursing home into 76 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments. It also calls for the construction of a third-floor addition and two three-story additions, adding 42,400 square feet to the facility.
In a related action, the board approved the application to Empire State Development Corp. for funding to help in the demolition and rehabilitation of the site.
