A Polar Stop with toy train layouts provided by local model railroad clubs, a building competition with canned goods to benefit the Food Bank of Western New York, and Kandy Kane's Holiday Magic Show are among the new sights this year at the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.
The 13th annual festival opens from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24. It runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 17, as well as Dec. 18-23. Festival grounds are open until 10 p.m.
Beginning the weekend of Dec. 8, local companies will compete to build structures made entirely out of canned goods. Employees from Praxair, Ferguson Electric, Hamburg Gaming and National Fuel will showcase their designs Dec. 15-23.
Admission is $25 a carload and visitors can save $10 by obtaining an advance carload voucher at all Tops Markets until Nov. 23.
