The Town of Tonawanda on Monday joined the Village of Kenmore in pushing back the date to begin enforcing its overnight winter parking ban.
"Winter is on hold," crowed the Town of Tonawanda on Twitter Monday, announcing the overnight off-street ban will be delayed until midnight Nov. 22. Last week the Village of Kenmore pushed back its starting date until Dec. 1.
The ban, which prohibits parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., usually begins on Nov. 1 in the town, but had already been delayed two weeks. Kenmore usually begins on Nov. 15. In recent years these dates have been relaxed as less wintry weather reports are received.
Both the Village of Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda have asked drivers to "use common sense" and to remove cars from the street during any significant snow to allow snow plows to pass.
