History museum exhibit on Buffalo sports teams opens Friday

Scott Norwood’s Super Bowl XXV helmet, the French Connection’s game-used hockey sticks, and the only remaining original 1959 Buffalo Bills jersey will be on display at the Buffalo History Museum's new exhibit, "Icons: The Makers and Moments of Buffalo Sports."

The museum said its multimedia exhibit, the first-ever comprehensive exhibition of Buffalo professional sports history from 1880 to today, will open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Admission is free.

Former Bills running back Thurman Thomas will be the guest of honor at a preview party for museum members from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the museum.

This exhibit features stories and artifacts spanning more than a century. Visitors can explore the origins of professional sports in Buffalo, relive the most unforgettable moments, and remember the teams and people that inspired fans.
