Frank J. Stryker, World War II veteran

Frank J. Stryker, 96, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Nov. 6 at his home.

He was a World War II veteran who joined the Navy in 1942 and served until 1946. He was an aviation machinist mate, serving with the Lighter-than-Air Naval Blimp station in Tillamook, Ore.

Mr. Stryker then worked at American Airlines for more than 30 years as an aircraft mechanic.

He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife, the former Blanche Petrie.

He is survived by three step-children, Anita Mertsching, Emil Sannicola and Kim, and by two grandchildren.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date to be announced.
