Two house fires – one in a vacant building, the other driving out two adults – kept Buffalo firefighters busy Saturday night.
The first fire, at 7:56 p.m., was at a vacant house at 465 Seventh St. at Pennsylvania Street. Damage to the 2-1/2 story wood frame structure was estimated at $5,000. The fire started on the first floor and was confined there. The cause is under investigation.
At 9:33 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to an occupied dwelling at 318 Normal Ave., near Rhode Island Street. This fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor. Two firefighters suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Damage was estimated at $80,000 to the home and $45,000 to its contents. The Red Cross was assisting two occupants. The cause is under investigation.
