Taxi driver's scuffle with passenger leads to crash, robbery

A taxi driver got into a scuffle with one of his fares over the weekend, causing a crash and leading to the driver being robbed.

It started around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, when the driver picked up a male passenger at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino on Fulton Street, according to police reports.

The man asked to be taken to the nearby Perry housing projects, but upon arrival wanted to go back to the casino, police said. While returning, the passenger asked to be dropped off at a different location on Virginia Street, but the driver refused.

The passenger started hitting the taxi driver, causing an accident in the parking lot of the casino, police said. The passenger took an undetermined amount of money from the driver and ran westbound on Perry Street.
