Oakfield man charged with strangulation, imprisonment

A 27-year-old Oakfield man was charged Saturday with strangulation, assault, unlawful imprisonment and other charges after what the Genesee County Sheriff's Office called "several alleged domestic incidents" at another address in Oakfield.

Michael Alan Shetler, 27, of Judge Road, was accused after an incident at 3 p.m. Nov. 4 in an apartment on Main Street in Oakfield, deputies said.

Shetler faces two counts of second-degree strangulation, five counts of criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation, two counts of third-degree assault, a single count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was held on $5,000 bail and will appear in Oakfield Town Court on Thursday.
