[BN] Blitz newsletter: Why Lorenzo Alexander is the Forrest Gump of the NFL

Steve Smith. Sean Taylor. Larry Fitzgerald. Jason Taylor. Julius Peppers. LeSean McCoy. Those are just some of the star teammates Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander has played with since entering the NFL in 2005.

In fact, Alexander has played with a Pro Bowler at all but two of 27 different positions, including six special teams spots (punter and right guard are the only exceptions). Read Alexander's thoughts on some of the notable names, as told to Tim Graham.

Losing ground: The Bills are currently averaging 1.6 fewer yards per rush than they did last season, "a fairly unprecedented drop," Jerry Sullivan writes in his Sunday column. "They should be able to run on the Saints. In the past, when the Bills sensed weakness in an opponent, they dug in and asserted their run-first identity. If they're a true contender, they'll show it today."

Pregame primer: Jay Skurski provides all the details you need to know for today's game and five things to watch for. Mark Gaughan illustrates one of the Saints' go-to defensive strategies. What do the all-time numbers tell us? And the view from Vegas.

Injury report: The Bills have ruled out left tackle Cordy Glenn (foot/ankle) and wide receiver Zay Jones (ankle). Tight end Charles Clay (knee), cornerback E.J. Gaines (hamstring) and tackle Seantrel Henderson (back) are questionable. For the Saints, safety Kenny Vaccaro (groin) is out. Left tackle Terron Armstead (chest) and guard Larry Waford (abdomen) are questionable.

Longest-tenured Bill: By his own calculations, Bill Munson attended 889 games, worked with 1,112 players and 227 coaches, and held 11 different titles during his 44 years working for the Bills. Skurski recaps Munson's career in his Inside the Bills feature.

Weather forecast: Cloudy and cold with little wind chill, according to meteorologist Don Paul. Some light rain mixed with wet snow could fall in the second half. The Bills practiced outside when the temperature was in the 20s this week. Meanwhile, Saints quarterback Drew Brees is 4-7 all-time in games when the temperature is 45 or lower. Tyrod Taylor is considerably better in the cold.

Sports Talk Sunday: Sullivan and Bills beat reporter Vic Carucci will preview today's game at 10 a.m. on WGRZ. Watch a preview of the show here.

Take a whiff: Carucci talks to current and former Bills about the use of smelling salts for his Inside the NFL feature.

Power rankings: The Saints were one spot ahead of the Bills on Carucci's list last week. How much higher are they now?

NFL Playbook: Bills-Saints is the game of the day, Milt Northrup writes.

Who Dat? Saints fans are marching into town and they have their own lingo.
