Lewiston man charged following shelter in place order

Michael G. Greaser

A Lewiston man was charged with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree menacing Thursday following a domestic dispute that resulted in state police issuing a shelter in place order to residents near a Town of Niagara home.

Troopers alleged Michael G. Greaser, 57, threatened to kill his wife and himself, and displayed a long gun, during an argument with his wife Thursday morning at his home on Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Lewiston. Greaser kept his wife from leaving the residence for several hours until she fled and reported the incident, police said.

State police, Niagara County sheriff's deputies and Town of Niagara police later surrounded Greaser's girlfriend's residence on Grauer Road in the Town of Niagara and arrested Greaser when he came outside. Greaser was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
