In Pendleton, Maerten beats Riester for town supervisor; Phillips wins in Wilson

Pendleton Town Supervisor Joel M. Maerten squelched a political comeback attempt Tuesday by the man whom he ousted two years ago.

Maerten, a Republican, was re-elected by beating Democrat James A. Riester, 1,104 to 774, in complete but unofficial Board of Elections returns.

The GOP also held two Town Board seats in Pendleton, with David I. Fischer and Justin M. Graham outpolling Democrat Allen R. Vaillancourt.

In Wilson, the only other competitive town supervisor race in Niagara County, the race was won by GOP incumbent Doyle H. Phillips. He defeated Democrat Janet M. Hoffman, 869-564.
