Five & 20 throws Barrel Room Jam
Five & 20 Spirits and Brewing (8398 W. Main St., Westfield) will celebrate Erie Craft Beer Week with its Barrel Room Jam from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
The event will feature the return of the brewery’s BRETTANYORYCES beer - a 6.5 percent (alcohol by volume) rye pale ale aged in red wine barrels with wild yeast - as well as the release of its 814 Collaboration beer, a hazelnut praline porter. Guests will have a chance to meet the brewers, and enjoy live music from Gem City Revival. Call 793-9463.
New York Beer Project to unveil the Righteous Dudette
New York Beer Project (6933 S. Transit Road, Lockport) is turning 2 years old on Nov. 18, and for the occasion brewed a special Triple IPA (India pale ale) called Righteous Dudette. This limited batch of 10 percent ABV beer will be offered on tap at the anniversary party starting at 11 a.m.
Special limited-edition Crowlers (32-ounce for $18) will be available via pre-order on the brewery’s website only, beginning at 10 a.m. Nov. 13. The brewery will also tap a blended version of its THEE Barleywine including some batches aged for 18 months for the celebration. Call 743-6927.
Flying Bison toasts the troops
Flying Bison Brewing Company (840 Seneca St.) will celebrate a Toast to the Troops from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 11. The Veterans Day appreciation party will be thrown in partnership with Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park.
Live music, media personalities from WKBW and WYRK, food trucks including Lloyd Taco Trucks and Fat Bob’s Smokehouse, and a Battleship tournament will be part of the festivities. Anyone with a valid military I.D. will receive one drink on the house. Call 873-1557.
Community Beer Works does a split
Community Beer Works will launch a full production batch of its Banana Split Milkshake Hefeweizen on Nov. 11. The 4.8 percent ABV beer is a hefeweizen conditioned on strawberries, vanilla, chocolate extract and milk sugar. The beer will be the first to be offered in a new 750 mL Crowler format for $10.
From 5 to 7 p.m., Nitro Magic will be on-site making ice cream from the beer. Call 759-4677.
Buffalo Brewing Company debuts new hours
Buffalo Brewing Company (314 Myrtle Ave.) has re-opened its doors, following an upgrade to its brewing system and tasting room. The brewery has new hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The new tasting room also includes a larger bar with stools, and tables with chairs. Call 868-2218.
Big Ditch aims for oatmeal cookies
Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St.) will release its winter seasonal Fresh Baked Winter Ale the weekend of Nov. 10. For the first time, this year the beer will be sold in six-packs of 12-ounce cans. The 5.6 percent ABV ale is brewed with chocolate malt, English brown malt and freshly toasted oats.
Fresh Baked is finished with subtle touches of cinnamon and vanilla bean, for a brown ale with the taste of freshly baked oatmeal cookies. Call 854-5050.
