KARAN, George Anthony

KARAN - George Anthony Age 83, of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away October 7, 2017, seven years after his wife, Alice Adolf Karan. He is survived by 2 siblings, Mary Reilly and John Karan; 5 children, Anne, Jim, Kathy, Joe and Bob Karan; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Originally from Lancaster, NY, he worked for the Buffalo Evening News 31 years as a Photographer, eventually becoming Head of Marketing Department before semi-retiring to Florida, where he continued working at audio visual conventions as well as a wedding and special events photographer/videographer. He enjoyed his hobby of being a Ham Radio operator and achieved the highest level. He was known for writing weekly articles in the newspaper called The Camping Corner and The Karan Scene in the 1970s about his family camping trips. He was a volunteer fireman and drummer in their band. He enjoyed driving everything from go-carts and motorcycles to campers, vans and cars. He was a Jack of All Trades, Mr. Fixit and Mr. Gadget as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, uncle, brother. A small gathering will be held on November 25, 2017 at St. Mary's Church Cemetery in Lancaster, NY at 5 pm to honor both George and Alice Karan. All friends and relatives are welcome.
