Allegany County man charged with shooting dog with arrow

Marvin C. Boncore, 63, of Wirt (State Police)

An Allegany County man was charged with aggravated animal cruelty after a dog was shot with an arrow on Pangburn Road in the Town of Wirt on Saturday, state police said.

Marvin C. Boncore, 63, of Wirt, has been accused of shooting and injuring a neighbor's dog that entered his property while he was fixing a fence, police said.

The dog, a 1-year-old Beagle/Labrador mix named Clooney, suffered multiple broken bones and was expected to survive.

Boncore was also charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and released on his own recognizance after being arraigned in Wirt Town Court.

As of late Monday morning, nearly $4,700 had been contributed via a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for medical care for the dog.
