PEDERSEN, Edward George

PEDERSEN - Edward George Age 90, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of North Collins, New York, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2017. Ed was born on January 22, 1927, in Buffalo, New York. As an infant, he was adopted by Louie and Minnie Pedersen. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his son, Ed Pedersen, Jr. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Miller Pedersen, his daughter Marcia Pedersen, and granddaughter, Angela Smith, both of North Collins, New York. Ed was a special stepdad and friend to David and Shae Miller, Chris and Tina Miller, Michelle Miller and Nora Clouse. He was "Papa" to Alexis, Victoria, Blake, Sophia and Brodie Miller. Ed was a WWII Navy veteran and plank owner of the USS Orleck DD886. Together with a partner, he owned and operated Speedy's Bar and Restaurant in North Collins, New York. He was inducted into the Western New York Baseball Hall of Fame. Besides playing baseball, he also managed and sponsored teams. A natural athlete, Ed excelled at bowling and tennis as well as golf. He was a past member of the Gowanda Country Club and Hamburg Golf Club. He also enjoyed skeet shooting and fishing from his boat on Lake Erie. Ed served on the North Collins Village Board, was a volunteer fireman, a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., Moose, Rotary International, and the Masonic Fortune Lodge. In Bradenton, he was a past volunteer at the Bradenton Police Department. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and resided at Waters Edge. He will be sadly missed by his constant companion, "Bailey". National Cremation is in charge of his memorial service, which will take place at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida at a future date yet to be announced.
