Malicki takes reins as Msgr. Martin girls hockey coach

Chris Malicki is back as coach of the Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association girls ice hockey team.

The private-schools league made the announcement Thursday.

Malicki takes over for his replacement, Linda Groff-Mroz, who stepped down after four seasons guiding the program that consists of players from eligible MMHSAA schools. Groff-Mroz guided the team to back-to-back Federation playoff championships in 2015 and 2016.

Malicki went 50-3-1 during his three seasons as Monsignor Martin coach from 2010-11 to 2012-13. He led the program to three regular-season-league titles and two playoff championships.

Malicki, who owns his own business, has been coaching hockey for 27 years. He also coaches the girls 16-under team at Cazenovia Park Hockey Association.
