The fall speaker series returns to the Black Rock Historical Society at 6 p.m. Thursday with a focus on the Scajaquada Battlefield and the War of 1812.
Douglas J. Perrelli, clinical assistant professor of anthropology at University of Buffalo, will present historical maps of the mouth of Scajaquada Creek as it relates to the decisive battle won by more than 200 riflemen in August of 1814.
Perrelli will identify locations for archaeological testing to verify the location of the battlefield. The Battle of Scajaquada Creek represented the last war move of the British on Buffalo. It was a convincing victory for America.
The Black Rock Historical Society is located at 1902 Niagara St. It is from open from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
