Probability Index, Week Nine: Bills playoff odds jump over 60 percent after beating Raiders

The Bills beat the Raiders last week to improve to 5-2 for only the second time over the drought. What are the Bills' playoff chances looking like?

Playoff simulations from The New York Times, FiveThirtyEight and the betting site betlabsports.com now give the Bills better than 60 percent chances to end the drought.

Here are their latest breakdowns for the Bills entering their Week Nine game against the Jets:

Odds to make the playoffs

NYT: 61 percent.
FiveThirtyEight: 63 percent.
Betlab Sports: 67.66 percent.

Odds to win the division

NYT: 25 percent.
FiveThirtyEight: 21 percent.
Betlab Sports: 21.62 percent.

Odds to win the Super Bowl

Betlab Sports: 2.46 percent (last week: 1.07 percent).

The Eagles and Steelers have the highest playoff chances in their respective conferences at NYT and Bet Labs, scoring 95 percent or better on each site. The Chiefs rank the highest on FiveThirtyEight.

The New York Times' simulators, which are interactive, say this week's game is another big one for the Bills – a division win over the Jets would improve their playoff chances to 75 percent, while a loss would drop them back under 50.
