Naval & Military Park receives $250,000 in state funding

The expansion of the the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park's hangar into a Hall of Honor is getting a boost from a $250,000 state grant.

Assemblyman Michael Kearns announced the funding, which will be used for renovating, updating and expanding the Hall of Honor. As the popularity of the park grows, so has the desire from the public to donate historic items and personal memorabilia. The limited amount of exhibition space led to the development of the plan to convert the hangar building, used mainly for storage and events.

Support for the project also has come in from the City of Buffalo, which dedicated bond funds of $240,750 in 2016 to develop design plans and construction documents. Erie County also dedicated $960,000 in bond funds last year to implement Phase 1 of construction.
