Victor Parra Gonzalez, the Mexican chef behind West Side fine dining spot Las Puertas, will represent Buffalo in a Day of the Dead themed dinner at the James Beard House.
On Nov. 1, Gonzalez, who also runs upscale taqueria Casa Azul with Zina Lapi, will join with five standouts in modern Mexican fare to deliver dinner in the Manhattan culinary showcase.
Joining Gonzalez will be Diego Galicia and Rico Torres of Restaurant Mixtli, San Antonio; Rogelio Garcia of The Commissary, San Francisco; Jacob Rojas of Tallulah's Raqueria, Providence, R.I., and Alex Valencia of La Contenta, New York City.
The dinner, paired with tequilas and wines, is $135 for Beard Foundation members, $175 otherwise. It starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through jamesbeard.org.
