Roasty Alpaca on the move at CBW
Community Beer Works (15 Lafayette Ave.) will release its Alpaca Porter in its taproom Nov. 10. Originally available only at Hydraulic Hearth in its satellite brewery, the 6.3 percent ABV (alcohol by volume) porter has developed a loyal following.
The beer is dominated by roasty notes, with a sweet malt profile to balance the chocolate flavors, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Pints will be sold at the taproom for $6, and the beer will go out for distribution to area bars soon. Call 759-4677.
Breakfast with a buzz at Resurgence
Resurgence Brewing Company (1250 Niagara St.) will host its Autumn Kegs and Eggs event at 11 a.m. Nov. 5. There will be a variety of experimental beers to sample, along with a breakfast garbage plate for brunch. Food is available from 11:30 a.m. until it runs out.
Some of the beers at the event will include Tropical Pale Ale (brewed by winners of The Dude Hates Cancer event), Snickers Coffee Porter and a cask of Imperial Sponge Candy Stout aged on coffee. Call 381-9868.
Hops abound at Big Ditch
Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St.) will release a new batch of Fip, the second in its Lock IPA (India pale ale) series, at noon Nov. 4. This will be the final release of Fip for 2017, and the brewery hopes to yield about 250 cases. Four packs of the 16-ounce cans will be available for $13.99, with a limit of one case per person.
A fresh batch of Deep Cut Double IPA will be available in cans on the same day. Deep Cut will be sold for $14.99 per four pack (16-ounce cans as well); there's a one-case limit per person. Call 854-5050.
12 Gates and Buffalo Brewpub
12 Gates Brewing Company (80 Earhart Drive, Williamsville) and Buffalo Brewpub (6861 Main St., East Amherst) are brewing a collaboration, Buffalo Breakfast Stout, on Nov. 3. To celebrate, Scott Shuler and Chris Townsell will hold a "Meet the Brewers" event that evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buffalo Brewpub.
Three beers from 12 Gates will be on tap including West Coast IPA, Cherry Vanilla Wheat and Mountains of the Moon IPA, along with the offerings from Buffalo Brewpub. Call 632-0552.
The first fruits of Pressure Drop
Knee Socks DIPA (double IPA) is now on tap at Gene McCarthy’s (73 Hamburg St.). The beer is collaboration between McCarthy’s Old First Ward Brewing Company and the brewery-in-progress Pressure Drop Brewing (65 Vandalia St.). The 7.7 percent ABV juicy and dank IPA celebrates Buffalo’s newest brewery. Call 855-8948.
Knee Deep at Pizza Plant
Pizza Plant (7770 Transit Road, East Amherst) will hold a tasting celebrating the fact that Knee Deep Brewing Company (Auburn, Calif.) beers are now available in Western New York.
At 6 p.m. Nov. 2, the tasting will include Breaking Bud IPA, Grandma’s Quilt (all-Mosaic IPA) and Tahoe Deep DIPA. Call 632-0800.
