More than 400 West Seneca residents showed up Monday night to tell Town Board members the 12 percent projected tax increase is too much.
Obscene, disgraceful and an enormous jump, residents said of the budget at a public hearing that lasted more than three hours at West Seneca West High School.
Rick Miles of Diane Drive said he was happy when his daughter and her family moved back to town.
But now, Miles said, "They're thinking of moving" because of the taxes.
Town Supervisor Sheila M. Meegan said one change had been made in the past two weeks that would drop the increase by 1 percent, and the councilmen said they also are considering some changes to reduce spending. The board plans to vote on the final budget at its Nov. 13 meeting.
