A “RocketMan” of a different sort is coming to Buffalo, as comedian Harland Williams is set to headline a weekend of shows from Nov. 2 to 5 at Helium Comedy Club.
A Toronto native, Williams started getting attention in the 1990s with a number of movie roles, including the 1997 film “RocketMan” and a hilarious scene-stealing scene in the 1998 classic, “There’s Something About Mary.” He’s also a notable voice actor, as audiences can hear him in “Robots,” “Meet the Robinsons” and “Robot Chicken.”
As of late, Williams has used his talents in children’s media. He’s the author and illustrator of several children’s books including “The Kid with Too Many Nightmares” and “Crazy Creatures.” He created and stars in the Disney Junior series “Puppy Dog Pals.” Williams also has a podcast, “The Harland Highway,” that is released bi-weekly.
Harland Williams: 8 p.m. Nov. 2, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4, and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Helium Comedy Club, 30 Mississippi St. Tickets range from $17 to $33 (box office, buffalo.heliumcomedy.com).
