The Bills were leading at halftime against the Oakland Raiders and much of the credit was due the defense.
After allowing an 81-yard drive on the Raiders' opening possession, the Bills forced three punts and then added a defensive score for a 14-7 lead.
As the conversation played out on the halftime show on CBS, Boomer Esiason made this pronouncement: "The Bills defense reminds me of the '90s teams." That is high praise and the comment drew immediate attention on social media.
Esiason has firsthand knowledge with that defense having faced it twice per season with the Jets for three years in the mid-'90s.
The Bills' defense forced two more turnovers to start the second half and converted those into a pair of field goals.
