Homeless man charged in West Side strangling death

Buffalo police have made an arrest in the death of a 46-year-old man whose body was found Monday inside a vacant structure on West Avenue. The victim was strangled, police said.

Saturday afternoon police charged Peter Isaacs, 37, who has no permanent address, with second-degree murder in the killing of Preston German of Buffalo.

German's body was found inside a building in the 100 block of West Avenue, between Hudson and Maryland streets, just before 10 a.m. Monday, according to a Buffalo police statement and a summary of the arrest report.

Police said information provided by the public led to the arrest, which took place Friday. They did not provide details on a possible motive for the slaying.

Isaacs was arraigned Saturday morning in Buffalo City Court and remains in custody.
