West Seneca senior flies high with winning design for MOOG Rocketry Challenge

A West Seneca East High School senior has won the logo design for MOOG's Regional Rocketry Challenge competition.

Kelsey Kaufman, a member of the school's Engineering Club, said her teacher suggested she submit a drawing for the new logo.

“My principal and everyone was super happy. My teacher was proud,” Kelsey said. “Now we see it on the sweatshirts for the competition, the plaques and everything else. It’s super cool."

Her idea was to take the word “challenge” and put it into the shape of a rocket that looks like it is shooting up into the sky. Next to the image she placed the name of the competition.

Schools from Western New York will participate in the rocketry challenge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, N.Y.
