One arrested, two sought in Evans armed robbery

Evans police apprehended a Buffalo man and was seeking two more thieves Thursday in the armed robbery of a local credit union.

Police responded to the robbery while it was in progress at 10:20 a.m. at the Lake Shore Federal Credit Union, 8766 Erie Road. Police said one of the men entered the building, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from an employee. Police arrived in time to observe the armed man attempt to flee. The robber was apprehended after a brief foot chase, during which he tossed the gun in the air just prior to being taken into custody, police said.

Khalil K. Holland of Dartmouth Street in Buffalo was arrested and held at the Evans Police Department for arraignment on multiple felony charges.

Police continued their search Thursday for two additional thieves in connection with the robbery. Both were last seen operating a blue, 2000 to 2008 model year Chevrolet Trailblazer which, police said, is reported to have a loud exhaust pipe and rust spots.

Police were also reviewing security video from various nearby businesses and released still photographs from surveillance video that is believed to have captured images of the vehicle police are seeking.

Police also are asking anyone with information, either about Holland, the two suspects being sought or the vehicle in question, to call 549-3600.
