Kenmore to celebrate 100th anniversary of women's right to vote

The Kenmore Village Improvement Society (KVIS) will host a celebration of the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote in New York State at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Village Green in front of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Municipal Building, 2819 Delaware Ave.

The free program will include stories of the efforts to win the vote and quotes by notable suffragists. KVIS members also will be painting 100s throughout Kenmore prior to the event.

Live music, children's activities and refreshments will be provided.

Participants will be asked to write down their hopes, wishes and dreams for women of the next century, which will be placed in the local museum along with a group photo.

If it rains, the event will be moved to Kenmore United Methodist Church.
