A band of lake effect rain pouring down over western Niagara County and Grand Island is expected to shift south into the Buffalo metro area later this morning, a little later than expected, according to the National Weather Service office in Buffalo. The heavier rains are expected closer to around midday now, meteorologists said.
"The rain could be briefly heavy and will make the morning commute slower than usual. Motorist should drive with caution and be prepare for wet roads and possible ponding on roadways during the morning commute," the Weather Service said in a statement released early today.
Rain showers are in the forecast all day and temperatures will be on the cooler side, with a high of 52.
