AMC Maple Ridge 8 sold for $18 million to San Diego trust

A California real-estate investment trust has purchased the AMC Maple Ridge 8 movie theater building in Amherst for $18.1 million, according to a document filed with the Erie County Clerk's Office.

San Diego's Realty Income, which invests in shopping centers, dollar stores and drug stores, bought the property at 4276 Maple Road, at Sweet Home Road, from American Multi-Cinema of suburban Kansas City.

The 42,000-square-foot building sits on 1.26 acres and is assessed at $3.1 million, according to town records. The building also includes a chiropractic office and a Mexican restaurant.

The theater is AMC's only area location, at least until a planned Market Arcade theater opens. AMC upgraded the theater seats in 2013.

It's not clear whether the purchase is part of a bulk sale. Realty Income said it does not comment on its acquisitions, and AMC did not respond to an email.
