Painkillers stolen from hotel room while victim was sightseeing

NIAGARA FALLS – A tourist from Michigan had her pain medication robbed from her hotel room Saturday morning while she was out sightseeing, police said.

The 83-year-old victim told police that she suffers from arthritis and other ailments and, after sightseeing for about four hours Saturday, returned to her Quality Inn hotel room in pain. When she went to take some of her prescription narcotic pain relievers, she found that the pills were missing. She estimated that about 40 pills were taken.

The woman's room in the First Street hotel had been cleaned in her absence, police said, and investigators plan to identify the employee who cleaned the room and interview that person.
