Water main break in Fredonia prompts boil water alert

A water main break Saturday morning in the Village of Fredonia prompted a boil-water advisory from officials at the Chautauqua County Department of Health & Human Services.

Residents in the Village of Fredonia and in the Town of Pomfret are affected by the alert.

The leak was discovered after the Fredonia Water Filtration Plant operator noted high water use and decreasing water levels, according to a post by the Chautauqua County health department on the NY-Alert website.

Work was undertaken to repair the break.
