Rep. Chris Collins reiterated his criticism Friday for the International Joint Commission's handling of Lake Ontario's water levels and urged the Trump administration to replace Commissioners Lana Pollack and Rich Moy.
Collins rebuked Pollack in particular for saying a combination of extreme weather, high water levels and ice were the sole reasons for the devastating flooding along the southern shore of Lake Ontario earlier this year.
Pollack made the comments this week at the 13th annual Great Lakes Restoration Conference in Buffalo.
Collins blames the commission for backing the revised water-management Plan 2014. The plan, put in place in January, is designed to allow more variability in water levels.
“Pollack and the IJC have failed the people of Western New York, especially those that have experienced devastating damage to their businesses and property,” Collins said.
