[BN] Blitz newsletter: Are Dareus and Glenn candidates for NFL trade deadline?

As the NFL trade deadline looms – it falls on Halloween this year – could any big pieces be on the move in Buffalo?

Left tackle Cordy Glenn and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus may seem like trade candidates, given their ability, tenuous status (Dareus) and reported interest (Glenn). Their contracts, however, are hard to move: Not only would the other team need room to take the contract on, but the Bills would be hit with a significant cap blow next season due to the bonus money each player is owed.

"This is his time": The bond between Bills coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier has made the difference in turning around this defense, Kimberley A. Martin writes.

Is there a Ryan Fitzpatrick Curse? "Hopefully it's not really true, but it sure does seem to happen a lot," Fitzpatrick said. Everywhere he goes, something strange happens to the starting quarterback, opening the door for Fitzpatrick to play.

Winston still not throwing: Speaking of Fitzpatrick ... Bucs QB Jameis Winston maintained that he wants to play Sunday but still wasn't throwing at Thursday's practice. Here's what Winston and coach Dirk Koetter said Thursday. They're also expected to get linebacker Kwon Alexander back for the game.

New receiver could help out ASAP: In signing Deonte Thompson, the Bills brought in a receiver with more receptions this season than any of the ones on their roster.

Replacing Charles Clay is a two-man job: Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas, come on down.

Jaguars owner: Trump is mad at the NFL because he lost bid for the Bills: Jags owner Shad Khan, who donated $1 million to President Trump, has a theory on why our president continues tweeting about the NFL: He's secretly mad he wasn't the winning bidder in the running for the Bills.

The Bills fired their security team: The team recently fired the company it used for security at the New Era Field because the company lacked a state license, the News' Dan Herbeck reported.

Vegas view: The Bills would be even bigger favorites if there offense was better.

The Buccaneers haven't been getting pressure: Since Bucs defenders haven't been getting to the quarterback, how has Tyrod Taylor done when he's not under pressure? (Did you guess "average"?)

Trivia: Name the two colleges where the Bills held training camp before St. John Fisher.

Man vs. zone splits: McDermott's defense loves zone, and the Bills are performing better in it that in man coverage.
