Donations are being accepted for West Seneca Cares for Kids, a program supporting less fortunate families in the West Seneca Central School District.
Families are identified by school social workers from the five elementary, two middle and two high schools to receive money and spend it at KMart on winter clothes, boots and coats. The parents and children are given a specified time frame to visit the store before Christmas and use the donated funds. The amount of money they receive depends on the number of kids in the family, though they are required to pay taxes on their purchase.
Last year, 36 families and 86 children were helped through the program.
Donations can be made to West Seneca Cares for Kids to P.O. Box 451, West Seneca, NY 14224.
