Man sought in connection with attempted robbery in City of Tonawanda

City of Tonawanda Police on Thursday were seeking a man in connection with an attempted robbery in the city.

The incident took place at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Tops Market at 150 Niagara St. in the City of Tonawanda, according to police.

According to police, the man demanded that a supermarket employee open a cash register, but fled when the employee refused.

The individual was described by authorities as 6 feet tall, with blue eyes and a light beard. He was wearing a sweatshirt with the words "New York" on it, authorities said.
